Hailuo AI’s New Image-to-Video Feature is Fire!
Hailuo AI, a product of Chinese startup MiniMax, has officially launched its Image-to-Video (img2video) tool on the web, offering creators a new way to turn static images into animated videos.
Hailuo AI Imate-to-Video Test
This vintage portrait was generated in Flux Dev and animated using image + text prompt, which read: "the woman is posing for a portrait, subtly smiling and feeling a little awkward and unsure and suddenly a big explosion is taking place far behind her", with prompt enhancer on.

I told you it was fire, didn't I? ;)
On Twitter, the company announced:
“The wait is finally over — we’re excited to launch our Image-to-Video feature! 🎬✨”
For those looking to boost their creative projects, Hailuo AI’s new Image-to-Video tool is now available on their website. Look for an image icon in the bottom left of the text field.

Hailuo’s Image-to-Video Features
- Text and Image Combined: You can now combine both text and image prompts for more detailed results, giving you more creative control over the visuals.
- Advanced Object Manipulation: Achieve incredible precision when adjusting or animating objects in your images to match your vision.
- Diverse Styles: Choose from a variety of styles, including super-realism, Eastern, ACG, abstract, fantasy, sci-fi, and more.
Currently, the tool supports single image uploads in JPG, JPEG, or PNG formats up to 20MB. It also allows for various aspect ratios, so you can create content in different formats, like square, tall, or wide, making it perfect for platforms like YouTube Shorts and TikTok.
Leveling Up Against the Competition
Hailuo initially launched in September 2024 with text-to-video features, allowing users to describe the video they wanted, and Hailuo would generate it. It quickly gained popularity among early adopters for creating fluid, lifelike human movements that stood out from competitors like Runway and Luma AI.
One area Hailuo lagged behind was the ability to turn images into videos, which many of its rivals like Kling, Luma and Runway already supported. But now, with img2video, Hailuo is stepping up its game. The new tool enables users to combine text and image inputs for highly personalized videos that precisely match their creative instructions.
This upgrade allows for better control over object recognition and manipulation in videos, making it possible to bring even complex artistic ideas to life.
What Sets Hailuo Apart?
Backed by Chinese tech leaders Alibaba and Tencent, and led by AI researcher Yan Junjie, MiniMax first made a splash in the AI video space earlier this year with Hailuo AI’s incredibly lifelike video generation model.
Hailuo AI’s strength lies in its range of styles. Whether you want to create realistic visuals, dive into fantasy or sci-fi themes, or explore anime and abstract designs, the platform offers customization options to suit different creative needs. This makes it an appealing choice for filmmakers, digital artists, and game developers alike.
MiniMax’s rapid growth has been fueled by its earlier release of the “video-01” model, which impressed users with its ability to realistically capture human movements and emotions.
So whether it’s a short clip or a detailed artistic project, this new tool gives creators flexibility and precision, pushing AI-driven creativity forward.
As MiniMax continues to grow, it’s clear that it’s becoming a major player in the generative AI world.
