FLUX Selfie Prompts
If you'd like to generate an image that appears like a real life selfie of a person, or perhaps an artistic pretend-selfie of cartoon characters, there are some prompt structures you could use to achieve this effect.
Some things I've noticed while prompting for selfies:
- FLUX doesn't have enough training data on selfie sticks, people holding them. Draws long arms instead or selfie sticks hovering in the air.
- If you mention a smartphone, iPhone, any camera model FLUX will tend to put them in the actual picture, even if you say 'taken with an iPhone' - someone will be holding the iPhone
- For most realistic effect, play with keywords like 'crisp' - if photo is too soft or skin too plastic, 'soft diffused lighting', 'candid', 'amateur'. DEV tends to generate softer pictures, Schnell tends to produce sharper ones. Words lilke 'raw', 'DSLR' help emphasize the authentic, casual, realistic feel to the image.
- Lower the guidance, if you can. Somewhere between 1.5-1.9 I find to be a good setting. While setting it too low can summon some undesired effects, lowering helps to get more 'raw', unpolished feel to the image.
- Include phone image filename references into your prompt, like 'IMG_9999.JPG' this seems to give Flux the idea it should imitate pictures taken by phone.
FLUX Human Selfies
A raw selfie photo of a 22-year-old influencer screaming from excitement while sitting atop of a tall tower, taking dangerous daring pictures to impress his followers. Loose closeup, fisheye lens, crisp and candid raw photo.

A 25-year-old Instagram influencer with silicon lips stands in front of a mirror in a luxury restaurant's ladies room made of marble, mosaic and lit with many dim spotlights, capturing a selfie with her smartphone. The image is sharp, crisp and detailed, with film grain. Her facial expression is pretentious and vain.

The Guidance Scale, ranging from 1 to 10, controls how closely FLUX DEV sticks to the style in your prompt. The default value is usually 3.5, as seen on HuggingFace.
Tip: Use longer, more detailed prompts with a lower Guidance Scale for better results. Start lowering to 1.9 and go as low as 1.5.
By lowering guidance you can also more easily get faces which are not 'typical FLUX face'. But there's a tradeoff of less polished results sometimes.
This is a quick tweak though, not the best solution necessarily. You can look up some Loras on Civitai to fine-tune FLUX default settings.
FLUX Character Selfies
There's more to selfies than just people, right? Other characters like animals or robots like taking quick snapshots of themselves and their buddies as well! So here are some examples involving non-human entities:
Medium shot, fish-eye lens. Shallow depth of field creates a focus on the robots taking selfies while at the top of the mountain.
All robots huddled together while taking a group selfie picture.
Goldy is a red 1950s retro robot monster, slightly rusty. Goldy is looking into the camera friendly standing to the left of center.
Dolbus is a sleek futuristic humanoid robot with rounded features, black and steel look and taller than the rest.
He is looking straight into the camera standing in the middle.
Bingo is a copper steampunk robot with big eyes and a stylish hat. Bingo is standing to the right, in profile bold pose with crossed arms, chin up, projecting attitude.
All robots appear happy. Everyone smiling directly at the camera. The mood is jolly and humorous. 
Extreme close-up with a wide-angle, a selfie shot of a small group of dogs all looking into the camera happy and goofy, dog at the front holding the smartphone in front and above to take a selfie, with a backdrop of a blurred out open fridge full of sausages, ham, chicken and stacked pizza boxes.
The dog in the front is positioned as if it’s taking a selfie. Its face is closest to the camera, dominating the foreground with a playful and slightly exaggerated expression due to the wide-angle lens effect. The dog’s nose is prominently featured, almost touching the camera, and its eyes are wide open, giving it an enthusiastic and curious look. The way its front paws are slightly visible at the bottom of the frame suggests that the dog could be reaching towards the camera, adding to the illusion that it’s the one holding the camera, taking a selfie with the other dogs in the background.
