MeshPad: Turn Sketches Into 3D Models with AI (Soon)
3D modeling is tough. Traditional tools need skill and patience but MeshPad changes that. Built by researchers at the Technical University of Munich and Audi AG this AI-powered tool lets you create 3D meshes just by sketching. No advanced skills required:
- Sketch. Draw a rough shape in the interface.
- AI Converts. The tool builds a triangle-based 3D mesh.
- Refine. Erase parts to remove geometry or add strokes to expand it.
- Iterate. Keep adjusting till it looks right.

Most AI mesh generators work in one step—input text or an image get a model. But that means no edits and messy results. MeshPad fixes this by making the process interactive. You stay in control adjusting the shape in real time.
Compared to other tools MeshPad offers:
- Better Accuracy. Meshes match the original sketch more closely.
- Editable Models. You can tweak the shape anytime.
- Cleaner Output. Preferred by 90% of human testers.
It’s not perfect though. MeshPad works best for simple models capping out at 768 triangles per mesh. It’s also not designed for huge 3D scenes. But for quick accurate modeling it’s a game changer.
How to Access MeshPad

What Redditors Think of Meshpad
MeshPad makes 3D modeling easier but it's still early days with limits in topology accuracy and complexity. It speeds up workflow but isn’t a full replacement for pro tools yet—though many expect big improvements soon. [ Source ]
