You Can Run But You Can't Hide From the AI Art Invasion
Ok so this is nuts. People will soon be (ab-)using AI to bring static, iconic artworks to life by animating them en masse.
Sometimes the original pieces will be given a new, dynamic (and sometimes very unexpected) twist while keeping their artistic essence, and sometimes... well, you'll just have to endure a lot of pain witnessing something abhorrent even though possibly hilarious.
Mona Lisa Rapping Paparazzi
Warning: you can't unsee (and unhear) this. But this video did go viral so pribably you want to find out what all the hype was about.
This awesome monstrocity happened when Microsoft dropped their VASA-1 which can make characters sing and talk, display emotions and head movements, all from using just a single static image and an audio clip as input. In the creepy video, the famous painting Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci seemed to come alive to perform a rap song called "Paparazzi" that became popular online in 2011. The rap was originally done by the actress Anne Hathaway.
Such animations show how advanced AI can turn treasured artworks into vivid, moving experiences, blending old and new in creative ways. It can be both exciting and perhaps disturbing for some. Although modern art has been criticized enough long before the appearance of even digital art as such, not to mention AI.
But remember, digital art existed before AI, and the tools were there, it just took much more time to learn, more skill and talent to create something interesting. Like the art below.
Animated Cafe Terrace at Night
This was posted on ChatGPT subreddit BUT apparently has nothing to do with AI and belongs to the artist Andrey Zakirzyanov. Personally, I love Vincent Van Gogh's paintings, both colors and vibes in them, they're absolutely mesmerizing. This animation, in my opinion, brings a new level of mesmerizing to the "Cafe Terrace at Night":
